Holiday in Thailand?

where is the best place to have a holiday in Thailand?

Hi

If you want beaches, best place is Krabi, unless travelling between may - oct, when you should head for the eastern islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. For culture head to the north - Chiang Mai - here you can see many temples and hilltribes. Bangkok is great for nightlife and shopping.

When you visit Thailand - first spend a few days in Bangkok. Also plan on ending your holiday by spending the last night in Bangkok. This would allow you to adjust to the time and temperature changes at the beginning of your trip. You would be able to see the city too. Some hotels will store a bag for you (like winter clothing) until you return to Bangkok.

There are two airports that serve Bangkok. If you intend to blow Bangkok off make sure you know which airport your connecting flights depart from. These two airports are on different sides of Bankok. Allow sufficient time for connecting flights!

Don't waste all of your time at a beach - you can find beaches in lots of countries! You could split your time up between beaches and visits to some of the other popular tourist spots like the River Kwai, Ayuthaya and temples, etc.

Chiang Mai is a nice place to visit, women seem to like this destination. You can visit with the "Long Neck" villages, hill tribes and take short tours to the Golden Triangle area near Chiang Rai. Seeing and riding on elephants, rafting on rivers, tiger shows - lots to do besides bake your self on a beach!

You could take an overnight train to Chiang Mai, this way you would save paying for another night in a hotel in Bangkok. You could fly to Phuket from Chiang Mai if you want to.

There are beaches closer to Bangkok that you can go to. Hotels are a little cheaper in smaller cities and towns than what you find in Bangkok or Phuket. Places like Pattaya will have cheaper hotels, cheap transportation good beach for sunbathing but a lousy beach for swimming! Lots of interesting nightlife in Pattaya. Nearby Jomtien and some areas in Naklua are okay for beach type swimming. Cheap hotels in the 800 baht or higher range often have pools too!

Good luck.

Hi, best place will be quite subjective. It will be better if you can state your preferences so that appropriate recommendations can be made.

Generally in Thailand, you can experience quite varying experiences, except for snow and cold.

Quite a number of tourists are taken in by the sea and sand inthe south of Thailand. But in the north, you can get lakeside beaches, reservoirs and riverside too. Thailand has one of the world top 10 beach holiday destinations, only one in Asia. So you can expect pretty nice scenery.

However, it has nice mountain and forest resorts in the north and northeast regions. Cool clime can be expected year round, with vineyards to be found.

So really will depend on what pleases you. Shopping in Bangkok is always liked by all. Write me if you like more info. Meantime read this site for info:

If you tell us, which style you like may be get a good recommend sir.

If you like the sea and cheap place. Try this Rayong Province, 300 kms from Bankok taking 3 hours by car.

Enjoy!!

Ko Samui island always makes a good holiday as the island offers everything. Quite areas at one beach to the busy nightlife at another (Chaweng Beach). Lots off activities, lots of sight seeing (Grandfather and Grandmother stones at Lamai Beach,) bars and clubs, cheap shops, nice restaurants... etc.You get the busy tourist areas and the quite untouched beaches (such as Ao Bang Po, thats a good snorkeling beach.)

If your on a budget and want to party then Chaweng beach is the definate place. You can get a cheap hotel above Burger King there, doesn't sound fantastic but does the job if your back packing it. It also makes arriving easier, if the taxi driver dosnt speak english well just ask for burger king.

Hat Bo Phut is a more expensive place that attracts romantic couples if thats what your after.

Its always a good idea to grab a copy of the 'Lonely Planet Guide' before hand as well. Theres more info on Ko Samui and Chaweng Beach from the link provided below that may provide more help.

Yes as OasisNic mentioned, thailand has different places to suit your interests, Why not visit the tourism website of Thailand. you can get a very good idea
