I agree with you.... harsh answers. It is a great holiday destination. Some narrow minded people have this misconception of Thailand, yes there is prostitution there, as well as all countries around the world.
but there is "SO SO" much more. Just book your flight, and sort the rest when you get there. I found Koh Samui amazing.
Search for Arc Bar on Chewang Beach, its a great bar and the apartments are good, clean and fairly cheep. Plus its in the middle of Chewang so a short walk to what ever you want.
How many days are you planning to get away? That info is very important. 4 days? 2 weeks?
Also, when? Thailand will be extrememly hot summer, and of course, room and tour rates are also cheapest at that time.
Once you decide the above two factors, you can book flight tickets from a local travel agent. Either ask him for a flight+hotel rate (bound to be a little costlier, but saves you the hassle), or, if you want to handpic your stay options, you can go to www.atsiam.com or www.sawadee.com and look at hotel reviews and rates.
Second step is to book all sightseeing tours online. This is such a relief! I did that for my family trip and had no trouble running around. For local sightseeing tours, pls browse:

It's a Thailand govt. recognized travel agency run by some very pleasant-mannered folks. Don't miss Kanjanapuri - River Kwai + Tiger Temple tour.
I am not connected with them in any way, but have used their services. Email me if you want more info.
sta travel will fly you there
or go by train and boat with imaginative traveller
Wow - am I missing something? Why all the harsh answers? If you have never been here before, it is really an easy and safe place to travel assuming you have common sense.. No real need for a tour.. Book your flight on your own and use the internet to find a discount room in bkk - most hotels have tour desks and there are many many travel agents, but again, travel here is easy - - but, I am sure travel agents where you live or online there must be plentyof tours coming here that will make all arrangements for you - - enjoy -
Hi where in Thailand do you plan to go to? There are quite a number of provinces that you can visit as holiday destination. Look through hhtp://www.tourismthailand.org for more info.
In most of the popular tourist places, you can easily get a tour package from any tour desk in the hotel or nearby travel agency. They carry the same tours with almost identical tour providers.
Need more assistance, you can write to me, I will try to oblige as best I can.
