US citizen traveling to Thailand - what are the entry requirements?

I am looking to take a holiday in Thailand for about a week and I was wondering if I need any sort of visa to enter.

If so, how would I go about getting one and about how much would it cost?

Thank you!

For US citizens visiting Thailand there are no entry requirements other than having a valid visa and not on the wanted list. Just have to go to Immigration, they will probably take your picture, check your passport, stamp your passport with a visa stamp, staple in your immigration sheet you filled out in the plane and log it in magnetically and you can go get your bag. Can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the length of the lines.

If you are arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, walk the third entrance or shortest line. Unfortunately there is no moving walkway.

The only other time you will require a visa is if you stay in Thailand longer than 30 days continuously. Then you should go to the Thai embassy or consulate near you or take care of it by mail.

Have a good trip

Khun bob is correct you do not need a Visa at all to enter Thailand. You are exempt from the Visa requirements for the first 30 days.

It is not a tourist Visa and it is not a Visa on arrival, those have different requirements and are applicable to people arriving from different countries. If you plan on staying over 30 days. You should apply at the local embassy or consulate in the U.S. for a tourist Visa which is good for 60 days.

If you arrive in Thailand without a Visa you would have to either apply for an extension for 1900 baht (which could be denied) or make a border run to Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, or Malaysia to get an additional 30 days (you could also fly to any country outside of Thailand).

You could also go to the Thai Embassy outside of Thailand and get a Visa good for up to 60 days. The maximum you can stay is 90 days in a six month period.

I'm an American who often travels to Thailand, so take it from me: You do not need a visa for a 1 week stay in Thailand. Just show up at the airport and you'll be granted an automatic 30-day entry stamp by immigration. No charges, no additional fees.

Just make sure you have the following items when you arrive at immigration (they rarely ask to see these items, but it's just in case): 1) A departure/return ticket. 2) At least $300 cash/ travelers cheques.

Check out my source link to the Visa-Exemption page at the Thai Embassy in Washington D.C.

beter get visa right from ur country otherwise it takes around 2 to 3 hours to get visa on airpot.

No issue u will get onarival visa but better save ur time.

Get visa from ur country.

if u choose on arrival visa then they will stamp(Rubber stamp) ur passport , but if u get visa from ur country then u will get paper visa on ur passport which looks gud.it costs around US$30 and u dont need to give anything else then money and some photos and ur passport.

better apply thru a agent. he/she will charge only 5 to 10 $ for service.

Americans get a 30-day visa on arrival at the airport for free. If you decide to stay over a month, you can get a 7-day extension at the immigration bureau in Bangkok that will cost you 1900 Baht (about $ 55).

like beauty Madonna saids. You don't need anything just money to come. you will get paper in the plane to fill in and it allows you to stay for 1 month.

If you need more useful information about thailand just ask :)

You can get visa at airport. For most european countries and USA you will get a 30 day visa free takes about 15-30 minutes. You will get the card to complete on the plane.

US Citizen are allowed entry into Thailand for 30 days on a visa exempt status at no cost to you. Your passport will be stamped with a must depart date. So you will have no problems at all.

It's actually not a tourist visa, you'll just get a stamp that allows you to stay for 30 days.

When you arrive you will get your visa for 30 days no problem.Enjoy your trip.

You'll get a tourist visa on arrival which is valid for 30 days. Nothing to worry about. Enjoy...

You get visa stamp on arrival good for 30 days. Not more than 20 dollars. Not sure, cause I've never have to pay.
