We are planning to visit:
Bangkok, Krabi, Phi Phi.
Can anyone advise on:
- How many nights we should spend in Bangkok 2 or 3?
- What Krabi has to offer? We were thinking of staying at Krabi Thai Village (ao nang) as a base for 6 nights. Can anyone comment?
Somebody told me Krabi has nothing to offer and Railey is better?
- Our final stop will be Phi Phi (4-5 nights). When we leave Phi Phi back to Bangkok - what is best advised route? What time and how long do boats take to mainland?
- can anyone recommend an agent to book the holiday with - I've heard Trailfinders and Kuoni are good?
Any thoughts welcome!! Thanks
J
Definitely stay 3 nights in Bangkok. It's an amazing city.. but dont get stuck on the tourist trail to much. By all means shop, visit a spa (so cheap), see a local market in full swing, sample some of the mind bending nightlife and eat eat eat. You wont be dissapointed.
This site has some good recommendations:
Be sure to visit Vertigo or Scirroco for a birds eye view.
Not been to Krabi - I hear it is beautiful. Phi Phi is definitely gorgeous. Be sure to take a boat, explore the whole island and find your own deserted beach.
Pi Pi to Bangkok. Take boat (maybe 1hr) to Phuket, taxi to airport then fly with Air Asia back to BKK.
erm.. didnt mean to plug but.. I work with a travel company here in Bangkok, pm me if you are interested, our prices may be better than booking from home :)
Hope you LOVE Thailand.. I'm sure you will..

hi- bangkok for 2 nights. see the royal palace, wat po and wat arun ( close by ) and float up and down the river day and night on public boats , floating market if u can wake very early , krabi town as a great little guest house called K guesthouse, on chao fah rd, krabi is nice and easy to reach any out laying island ao namg is worth a visit to, ( 20 min songthaew ride) also ask about that temple on the hill ( i forget the name ), phi phi- sorry , i hate the place now-ruined with tourists , sure there will be a mcdonalds there ONE DAY. phi phi is a place where u may bump into your naighbours , ruined and over rated these days. try expedia.co.uk or ebookers.com
have fun
i don't recommend u stay in BKK more then 2 days its just a city, go to Kho Samui & stay i Cheweng Rd, its the best island & from there u can go to Kho Tao for diving & snorkling & u can book a safari trips its soo nice.
u can go from BKK to any island for a very good prices on Lumpraiah Co.

I've always been satisfied with Trailfinders.
Bangkok is probably worth 3 nights rather than 2, but it depends on what you like. If you want to spend time on the beaches, just keep it to 2.
To be honest, there's not that much difference between Krabi an Railey. I stayed in both and liked them. Railey is, as I recall, quieter.
In terms of getting to and from Phi Phi, there are plenty of small, Thai companies that offer minibus transport to/from Bangkok. You can find them on the Khao San Road in Bangkok. Alternatively, get the train.
