Is Thailand still "the place to go" for a summer holiday?

Me and the Mrs wanna 2 week holiday this year in the summer but wanna pick the right place this time. We want to go to Thailand but want some recommendations. We are in our early 30's , no kids and would like to avoid 'the brits abroad' type if you know what i mean. A bit of sight seeing would be great, an amazing beach and some good facilities, hot tub, gym, tennis courts, 4 or 5 star hotel etc etc! oh and some bars! dont want much !!!! he he

The Amanpuri in Phuket would be ideal but you can't go to Phuket in summer unless you want rain.

Ko Samui is perfect in our summer and tsunami free zone:

There are several 5*+ hotels which will fit the bill -

Sila Evason hideaway

or Le Royal Meridien Baan Taling Ngam or The Santiburi Resort.

Stopover in Bangkok - Shangri-La for a couple of nights for some sight-seeing.

not 4 me; 2 hard 2 figure out wht they're saying
