Better to go by yourself.
Thailand is safe, people are very friendly, and it is extremely easy to get around. For instance, in BKK taxi fares are super-low and you can get one within 5 min anywhere at any time of day or night. Even outside of BKK transportation is not difficult, and is generally cheap. Hotels are available on walk-in basis almost at any time.
Tours are better when you're going to a country where arranging transport or hotels can be a pain, or where some parts are unsafe. Not Thailand for sure.
Other places to visit may be Laos (lovely scenery, and very friendly people), and Singapore (super clean and efficient).
Travel by yourself is better. It is very easy to go to anywhere in Thailand especially the popular places such as Phuket, chaingmai, pattaya, Koh Samui, etc.
But some attractive places those might not be well known to the tourist such as some islands in the southern of Thailand those are very beautiful because they are pretty far from land,
you should join tour group for your convenience.

This really depends on what kind of a guy you are. I never liked group travel. Not enough adventure for me.
Even if you are a couple or an older guy or a family you will be okay in Thailand.
Whether to visit other countries depends on how much time you have and again how adventurous you are.
Thailand is a safe and easy country to travel in. Laos and Cambodia takes a little more of an adventurous soul. Singapore is like any other big city in my opinion but worth a visit. Malaysia offers many different experiences like Thailand. Burma...well up to you.

If I were coming by myself. I would do a tour or two. At least see the Grand Palace and couple temples. Beyond that it is overkill to me.
Maybe a tour of the floating market, just keep your hands out of the dirty water.

I was fortunate that a friend met me there and had some thai friends to accompany me.
Shopping for souvenirs, go to MBK Centre or street vendors. Clothing go to Platinum mall are nice places to go to. Easy to get to from the Skytrain.

no no no, go by ur self without tour its much better, and if u have question on how to get arround there, u can ask and u will find the answer, it depends if u r old man with ur wife , yes its better to go with tour, other than that just go anfd find ur way thru, this is bangkok its an adventure ??? enjoy
I would think it would be the same as everywhere else, if you don't know where to go take the group tour, otherwise going by yourself is much better because you can take as much time on the places and things you like. Eat what and when you like.
I always prefer to go alone if I could afford the trip because tastes differ from person to person so much and in a group your choice may get lost. I am in Thailand right now and I will be visiting Cambodia for a week.
U should visit Singapore and Malaysia. And its better to go either way. Depends how u want it cause south east asia is pretty safe. Don't forget to visit Singapore and Malaysia because they are way better than Thailand
I wouldn't join a tour group. Many times they'll take you to shopping places to make commission. Which eventually wastes the time for actual exploring.
if your in bangkok go by yourself, if you are in a smaller town do a group tour.
if its first time it would be better to join a tour grp (safer) next time u can go by urself if u know the way..
