I am going to Thailand for a holiday. I want to buy quality power tools for my use.?

Where do I buy quality power tools in Thailand. (Not in comercial quantity's). We will be spending 4 days in Bankok then 7 days on kosamoi. How do I ship them back to Australia

quality????

In Thailand?!?!

Forget it.

Much cheaper in Australia - and better quality

They won't work ! You have different power systems.

I really really do recommend you buy you power tools HERE in Australia.

It is not worth the time and effort to buy them there and then ship them (the freight cost is quite expensive) and then change the plug for all of them. There is also the warranty if anything goes wrong with the tools.

Use your time there to just relax, indulge and enjoy the food , the sightseeing, the smiles and shopping. Have fun!!

They will work, you will just have to change to plug.

However... Quality tools here are not cheap, and by the time you ship to Aust, It would be more expensive.

I brought my Electric drill and 5" grinder ETC with me.

You can get very cheap tools but not quality.

You will waste your holiday time looking for them. Trust me.

You can check out Big C Home Mart Home Pro ETC but I cannt tell you where they are in Bangkok and forget about looking in Ko Sumuee

You can buy anything in Bangkok just with varying degrees of quality. There are a number of reputable companies that sell power tools in Bangkok including Bosch and Hitachi but as the others said you will need to change the power plugs but that's not a huge job. Check out the price of comparable brands and products before leaving Australia to ensure that you do get a bargain. As for getting it home, friends operate shopping tours in Bangkok which includes shipping up to 20kg worth of goods back to your home in Australia. This could be a good option so that you don't waste time going all over Bangkok trying to find stuff and then having to bring it back on the plane. Check out the website if you want more info www.worldwideshoppingtours.com.au. Otherwise enjoy your holiday to Thailand, very envious.

Home Pro - which is Hardware and Home Supply department store often attatched to Carrefour grocery stores. You will find all sorts of quality power tools that are cheaper than a lot of the major suppliers (my husband runs a factory here...).

I don't have a lot of experience with shipping apart from small packages with Thailand Post (which has actually proven to be very reliable). Check out this website:

Have fun!

The best place for high quality power tools in Bangkok is HomePro, it's a high end DIY shopping mall, one branch is located at Ploenchit Area, very easy to take the skytrain and exit at Ploenchit Station you see the shop directly in front of you, another one is next to Robinsone Dptm store at Ratchadapisek Rd, you can go there by Underground tube, ask anyone which is the exit to Robinson Store.

You have to be very alert, also at HomePro, in TH there are fake tools made in China sold everywhere who just have a very small different look, ask the sales person where are these items made or come from, if it's from China don't even think about it, we just built a house in TH and we got awful experiences, anyhow HomePro also sells most of the international famous brands in original, so check out carefully.

To use it in AUS is no problem, just change the plugs.

The best way to ship is to carry yourself as sending parcels from TH is much more expensive than sending eg from EU to TH, a 5kg pack costs around 65US$, if you want to ship bigger quantities there are international movers who do this service as akind of bypack but it's also expensive.
